Podium Place for Danny Watts in the Macau GT Cup with United Autosports.

Danny Watts finished in third place in the ‘City of Dreams' Macau GT Cup, which runs as part of the Macau Grand Prix, having started in 5th position. He was able to make up places during the race until a 4 lap safest car period made it difficult to advance any further up the field.
Richard Meins, in his first outing in the McLaren MP4-12C, finished in eleventh place. After a crash in first qualifying, Richard managed to qualify in 16th position, and he admitted that he was still learning how the car handled during the qualifying sessions. After making up places in the race, he closed up with a huge battle for seventh but ran out of laps to make further passes.
The grid this year was incredibly strong, with factory teams from Audi, Ferrari and Porsche, and drivers such as ex F1 driver Lucas Di Grassi and the eventual race winner Edoardo Mortara, who has just completed an F1 young driver test in Abu Dhabi in Kimi Raikkonen's Lotus. United Autosports look forward to the 2013 Macau Grand Prix and being part of the 60th running of this annual event.
Danny Watts : "I'm absolutely delighted to get another podium here in Macau. We improved the car in every session and in fact we found 3 seconds from qualifying to the race and the balance was fantastic. We were 3 seconds faster than last year which clearly shows all the hard work McLaren have put in over the last 12 months. Thanks to United Autosports for working so hard in very difficult conditions in the highly polluted underground car park, and to sponsors Gulf Marine, Mandarin Shipping and GR Asia for giving us the opportunity."
Richard Meins : "It was a frustrating weekend, I had so little experience in the car which meant a lot of the time in Macau was more me leaning the car and it's not really the place to do that! I think 6 laps of the 12 lap race was under safety car which did not allow enough time for much over taking although I was happy with my times in the final couple of laps, should really have been achieving these times much earlier in the weekend but ha ho that's racing. In saying all that, the McLaren is a great car, it is a fantastic event and the best circuit in the world so I am lucky to be part of it. GR put on a great show thanks to the support of Gulf Marine and it was an honour to drive with those historic colours. I'm looking forward to 2013 and celebrating the 60 year history of the Macau GP!"
