Le Petersen/White Lightning avait annoncé la semaine dernière sa séparation, Michael Petersen s'orientant vers le Rallye-Raid avec sa structure, le Petersen Motorsports. Dale White, le patron du WHite Lightning Racing, n'avait pas caché son souhait de poursuivre sa présence en American Le Mans Series. C'est désormais chose fait puisqu'il rebondit chez le Drayson-Barwell Motorsport.

Tandis que son team va prendre une année sabbatique, Dale White, Double Champion GT avec le Petersen/White Lightning, rejoint l'association Drayson-Barwell. Rappelons que le Barwell Motorsport et Lord Drayson, qui a quitté ses fonctions de Ministre de la Défense brittanique pour se consacrer à ce projet, engageront une Aston Martin Vantage GT2 roulant au Bio-Ethanol E85 en ALMS. Avec le soutien de l'Usine et l'arrivée de l'expérimenté Dale White e tant que "Strategic Consultant", le team Drayson-Barwell met tous les atouts de son côté pour que ce programme soit une réussite.

"Je suis ravi de travailler avec Dale cette année" confirme Paul Drayson. "Il possède un formidable palmarès en GT et il sera un atout majeur pour l'équipe. Je sais que nous avons beaucoup à apprendre de notre première année en ALMS, mais avec l'aide Dale, je suis certain que nous allons apprendre vitre."

Dale White s'est dit également très heureux de rejoindre l'équipe britannique : "Je connais plusieurs personnes clés chez Aston Martin Racing depuis plusieurs années. C'est une organisation au top, et je découvre rapidement que le Drayson-Barwell est également très professionnel et très bien structuré. C'était une déception de ne pas continuer notre programme. Mais dans la vie, il y a des portes qui se ferme, et d'autres qui s'ouvrent. J'ai été contacté par un certain nombre de teams, mais ici cela semble parfaitement adapté à mes objectifs. Le fait d'avoir un passé d'ingénieur et une expérience dans les énergies alternatives (Dale White a été membre du Nuclear Emergency Search Team, ndlr) me rend particulièrement enthousiaste à l'idée 'aider Paul Drayson à faire courir une Aston Martin Vantage roulant au Bio-ethanol E85. Cette année va être passionnante, avec beaucoup de nouveaux défis. Je suis impatient de rester impliqué en ALMS."

Dale White joins Drayson-Barwell for 2008 ALMS

We are delighted to announce that former American Le Mans Series GT2 Championship-winning team owner, Dale White, will be joining the Drayson-Barwell team for the 2008 American Le Mans Series (ALMS) season. The British team will be campaigning the first Aston Martin Vantage GT2 chassis in the ALMS, which will run on E85 Bio-Ethanol fuel. This follows on from Barwell Motorsport and Paul Drayson’s pioneering Bio-Ethanol season in British GT in 2007, where they scored the first ever outright British national series race victory for an alternative fuel racing car.

Dale, whose Petersen Motorsports/White Lightning Racing outfit has claimed two ALMS titles, has joined Drayson-Barwell whilst his own team takes a sabbatical from the series in 2008. He will be passing on his extensive experience and knowledge to us, as well as performing the role of Strategic Consultant to Team Principal, Mark Lemmer, at the race events themselves.

“I am delighted we will be working together with Dale this year” says Paul Drayson, “He has a tremendous track record in GT racing and will be a major asset to the team.   I know we have a lot to learn in our first year in ALMS, but with Dale's help, I am sure we will learn fast." 

Dale White comments: “I am very excited for this opportunity with Drayson-Barwell. I have known several of the key people at Aston Martin Racing for a number of years. It is an absolutely top organization and I am quickly learning Drayson-Barwell is also a well structured and professionally run group. It was disappointing not being able to continue our programme this year. However, as they say in life, as one door closes, so another one opens. I was contacted by a number of teams but the fit here seemed perfectly matched to my goals. Having an engineering background and experience in alternative energies, [White is a former Engineering Co-ordinator for a USA Department of Energy contractor and a past member of the Nuclear Emergency Search Team] I was especially excited about Paul Drayson’s push to run an E85 fuel in the Aston Martin Vantage GT2. It is going to be a very exciting year with a lot of new challenges. I am really looking forward to staying involved in the ALMS.”
